About the Role

As a Middle School Math Teacher , you will deliver rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that builds conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and confidence in problem-solving. You will create a classroom that is predictable, engaging, and intellectually alive, where Scholars are supported to take risks, persist through challenge, and grow as mathematicians and community members.

This role is ideal for an educator who values structure, reflection, and collaboration and who understands the unique developmental needs of middle school learners.

What You’ll Do

As a Math Teacher, you will serve as a lead teacher and coach who strengthens math learning and instructional excellence across grades 5 – 8. A few key responsibilities include:

• Teach engaging, standards-aligned middle school mathematics lessons
• Build a calm, structured classroom environment aligned with One City routines and expectations
• Use data and assessments to inform instruction and support Scholar growth
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
• Foster productive struggle, perseverance, and mathematical confidence
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum, data, and instructional improvement
• Communicate proactively and professionally with families
• Participate fully in professional development, coaching, and team learning

Middle School Math Teacher

You are a thoughtful, skilled middle school math educator who brings both instructional strength and a steady, relational presence to the classroom. You believe every Scholar can grow in mathematics and that confidence, persistence, and curiosity matter just as much as correct answers.

• Bring a strong understanding of middle school math content and know how to make it accessible, engaging, and intellectually challenging
• Create structured, predictable learning environments where Scholars feel safe taking academic risks
• Use data as a tool for insight and reflection, not judgment, and adjust instruction in response to what Scholars show you
• Build trusting relationships with Scholars and contribute positively to a collaborative teaching team
• Believe in culturally responsive teaching and designing instruction for diverse learners and learning profiles
• Value consistency, clear expectations, and shared practices that support both learning and belonging
• Want to be part of a school community where character, relationships, and academic rigor work together

What You Bring

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field
• Valid Wisconsin teaching license or eligibility for licensure
• Experience teaching mathematics at the middle school level
• Strong classroom management and instructional skills
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching
  
   

Preferred

• Master’s degree in Education or a related field
• Experience in a charter school or urban education setting
• Strong data-informed instructional practices
• Ability to build meaningful relationships with Scholars and families
